SMS Voting

SMS voting allows you to vote using any cellular phone. Unlike the USSD Voting System, the SMS Voting System is not free and you, the member, will bear the cost of the SMS. The SMS cost is charged at standard rates. Free SMS's do not apply.

At the start of the voting phase (2 January 2020 – 28 February 2020), and to give you access to the SMS Voting System you will receive an SMS containing the SMS Voting System Number and a request to submit your ID number. The system will respond with your unique SMS Voting Pin Number.

This is a personalised and unique number which is specifically intended to give you personalised access to the SMS Voting System. You, therefore, MUST NEVER share your SMS Voting Pin Number with anyone.

Upon accessing the SMS Voting System, you will be able to access the full ballot paper as well as voting instructions.

USSD Voting

USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) is technology that is used to send text between a mobile phone and a software application. USSD text interaction happens by using a number string that starts with a * and ends with a #. Example: *120*3596#

USSD voting allows you to vote using any cellular phone. It is a FREE SERVICE and does not require an internet connection or airtime.

To vote using the USSD Voting System you must have a valid cellular phone number that is registered on the EPPF member database as at 31 October 2019.

At the start of the voting phase (2 January - 28 February 2020), you will receive an SMS inviting you to register to vote using USSD by requesting a USSD Voting Pin Number. Please note that this is a personalised and unique number which is specifically intended to give you access to the USSD Voting System. You, therefore, MUST NEVER share your USSD Voting Pin Number with anyone.

Upon accessing the USSD Voting System, you will be able to access the full ballot paper as well as voting instructions.
